The seam between the top half (deck) and bottom half (hull) is covered by a metal trim strip. On my boat it is held on by smooth-headed rivets. The rivets need to be drilled out one by one to remove the trim and expose the seam. My husband helped, which made the job go a lot quicker. When exposed, I could see the deck and hull meet at a seam, and are glassed together on the backside. They are going to have to be separated, so I will use a sawzall. But not until tomorrow.

I was surprised it only took about two hours to drill out all the trim rivets. In the meantime I found where there was extra fiberglass added to the transom, because it had covered the rivets in the back, including a screw which was a replacement for a lost rivet. Definitely not a factory job, something that happened much later.
